Your Google Business Profile is not a website.
A strong Google listing helps people find you. It does not replace a site you control when someone wants services, credentials, or a clean way to contact you.
A lot of electricians treat Google Business Profile as the whole internet presence. The map pin looks good. Reviews show up. Calls come in. So the "website" field stays empty, or it points back at the Google listing itself.
That works until it does not.
What Google is good at
Google Business Profile is the right tool for:
- Showing up in local map results
- Collecting reviews
- Posting short updates
- Getting a tap-to-call from someone nearby
Markio includes Google Business workspace tools for that side of the job. Use them. Do not ignore the map listing.
What Google is not
Your Google listing is not:
- A page you fully control when Google changes the layout
- A place to explain panel upgrades, EV chargers, or commercial work in your own words
- A stable home for photos, licenses, insurance notes, and service-area detail
- A landing page you can send from a truck wrap, invoice, or text without hoping the listing still looks the same next month
When a general contractor asks for "your website" before awarding a bid, a Maps URL is a weak answer. When a homeowner wants to confirm you actually do the work they need, a thin listing leaves the story unfinished.
One login, not two vendors
The common mistake is buying a separate website builder, then paying someone else to "manage Google," then never updating either. Markio keeps the site and the Google Business work in the same owner login so the facts stay aligned.
If you already have a site, start from the URL. If the business only lives on Google and Facebook today, describe the business and build the first draft from those facts.
Bottom line
Keep the Google profile strong. Add a real site you own. They are not the same product, and treating them like they are is how good electricians stay invisible the moment someone leaves Maps.
